刑事　　：Your wife, she’s, she’s got the money in the family, doesn’t she?

キンブル：Helen comes from a wealthy family. Yes.

刑事　　：Is she insured?

キンブル：Yes, she is.

刑事　　：Who’s the beneficiary?

キンブル：I am.

刑事　　：The sole beneficiary?

キンブル：Yes.

刑事　　：Financially, you’re not going to be hurting after this then, are you? I mean, she was worth quite a bit of money.

キンブル：You suggesting that I killed my wife? Are you saying that I crushed her skull, and that I shot her? How dare you?

　キンブルの最後のセリフを取り上げます。

Are you saying that I crushed her skull, and that I shot her? How dare you?

　「私が、彼女の頭を打ち砕いて、彼女を銃で撃ったと、言っているのか？よくもそんなことが言えるな」

　How dare ～ ?

は、「よくも～できるね」という意味の重要表現です。

　キンブルのセリフは、

　How dare you say so?

の下線部の部分が省略された文です。

　動詞以下（～の部分）が省略されて、

　How dare you?

だけで、怒りの感情や苛立つ気持ちを出すときに使うときもあります。

　たとえば、

　How dare you say something like that? Don’t stick your nose into my affairs!

　「よくもまあそんなことが言えるね。私の事に口を挟まないでくれ！」

の、下線部を省略して、

　How dare you? Don’t stick your nose into my affairs!

　「よくもまあ。私の事に口を挟まないでくれ！」

　別の訳をすれば、

　「黙れ。私の事に首を突っ込むな！」

と、なります。

　「首を突っ込むな」は、他の表現として、

　Don’t poke your head(nose) into my affairs.

　Mind your own business.　「余計なお世話だ」

　Go about your own business.

　It’s none of your business.

　That’s my affairs.

などがあります。
